The film will be directed by David Frankel, perhaps best known for 2006's 'The Devil Wears Prada'. The scriptwriter who he worked with on said film, Vanessa Taylor, has completed the screenplay for Great Hope Springs. The script has been around for a while, and even featured on the Black List of best unproduced screenplays.
The three confirmed actors are certainly busy at the moment, and the film's scheduling is having to fit around a number of projects. 'Men In Black III', in which Lee Jones reprises his role as Agent K, is still in production, and the actor has also been confirmed for Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' biopic.
Carell is currently filming 'Seeking a Friend For the End of the World', a romantic comedy directed by Lorene Scafaria, and has recently confirmed that he will be involved with 'Burt Wonderstone', in which he will play a magician of faded glamour who attempts to reinvent himself.
Streep, meanwhile, has recently finished filming 'The Iron Lady', in which see stars as cold-hearted Conservative Margaret Thatcher, and the film is in the post-production process.
James Gandolfini is rumoured to be in talks to join the project. Reportedly, Jeff Bridges was offered Jone's part but declined the role. Great Hope Springs will begin to shoot in August.
