6 famous Christmas stories
From 'A Christmas Carol' to 'The Nutcracker,' these six stories have become essential to the holiday season.
2. 'A Christmas Carol,' by Charles Dickens
Catapulting "Bah, humbug!" into the popular lexicon, Charles Dickens' story follows the miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who despises Christmas and makes his good-hearted clerk Bob Cratchit work on Christmas Eve. Scrooge is visited by three ghosts that show him the past, present, and the dismal future that will result if he doesn't change his ways. Dickens' work has been the subject of many theatrical productions, movies, and other adaptations, some of which have included accompanying songs.
