Video: The steeplechase of bicycle racing
What began as a way for bicycle racers to stay in shape during the off-season in the early 1900s is today an international pro tour. Contestants ride a circuit of challenging terrain -- grass, low barriers, muddy hills, rocky descents, hairpin turns -- for 30 minutes to an hour, regardless of the weather. The one completing the most circuits wins.
