In Britain, gruel glorious gruel

Cultural snapshot: The Royal Society of Chemistry cooked up a ‘meal for hard times,’ as described by Charles Dickens in ‘Oliver Twist.’ The gruel – consisting of oats, milk, water, and onion – was served to the public in London Tuesday, including Greg Cousins (left).
