Royal Wedding Date: Top 4 possible dates

With Prince William and Kate Middleton engaged to be married, they must now settle on a wedding date – while dodging obstacles posed by friends' weddings, a major political referendum, and, of course, Britain's cold and rainy months. Here are the four likely wedding dates being bandied about:

Summer?

Warm nights, tanned shoulders, cool breezes.... Yes, a summer wedding is also a possibility for Kate and William. According to The Daily Telegraph, should an April wedding prove unfeasible, a backup date in the summer has also been earmarked.

"They are realistic that for one reason or another, their first choice date may not work for all parties involved, and so they have selected a second choice summer date," a senior royal aide told the Telegraph.

According to The Daily Mail, "aides have pushed for a summer wedding due to date clashes and the desire for sunshine on a day when the eyes of the world will be on London."

Whatever the date, the wedding will likely be held at Westminster Abbey, which also hosted the weddings of the queen and queen mother. Kate Middleton made a private visit to the 10th-century church soon after her engagement was announced.

Where won't the wedding be? St. Paul's Cathedral, which is where William's mother, Princess Diana, married Prince Charles. "I suspect it won't be St Paul's, which is very large and brings back memories of Charles and Diana, and the logistics would make it more difficult," historian Richard Jenkyns told the BBC.
