Who handled Major League Baseball’s ceremonial first-pitch honors in 2013?
2. Pittsburgh Pirates
Jim Rohr, retiring chairman and CEO of PNC Bank
Since the Pirates play at PNC Park, named for the bank that Rohr has led so successfully, it seemed natural to honor him upon his retirement. In a profile piece in Pittsburgh magazine, Rohr is described as “a mosaic of different leaders we’ve known,” a mix of philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, ethical team owner Dan Rooney of the NFL Steelers, and a “liberal sprinkling” of children’s TV personality Fred Rogers of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” fame.
