Butler players, from left, Shelvin Mack, Matt Howard, and Chase Stigall celebrate their 60-58 victory of Old Dominion in the Southeast regional second round NCAA tournament college basketball game, Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Verizon Center in Washington.

Butler beat: (9) Old Dominion, 60-58; (1) Pittsburgh, 71-70
Wisconsin beat: (13) Belmont, 72-58; (5) Kansas State, 70-65
Winner plays: winner of (3)BYU vs. (2) Florida

Butler won two thrillers on last-second shots by senior forward Matt Howard. The first was a right-place, right-time put-back layup against Old Dominion as the backboard lit up. The second was a wild back-and-forth finish against top-seeded Pitt in which he was put at the free throw line for two shots with the game tied at 70 and one second on the clock.

Wisconsin does two things that make the Badgers very difficult to beat: 1) they make their free throws, and 2) they shoot from beyond the arc better than just about anyone left in the tournament field. So far, they’ve made 81% of their free throws (39 of 48) and a very solid 50 percent of their 3-point attempts (21 of 42).
