This fall 2010 extravaganza took Steele to more than 100 cities across the United States in a big red motor coach with “Need a job? Fire Pelosi!” emblazoned on the side. Some Republicans liked the tour, because it helped call attention to the GOP goal of taking over the House and getting Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) out of the speaker’s chair – a goal Republicans accomplished. But others felt it wasn’t the best of use of funds for a cash-strapped RNC. In addition, the bus spent almost half its time in congressional districts that weren’t in play. One RNC member called it a “Michael Steele reelection tour.”
