Arizona shooting suspect Jared Loughner: 5 of his strange ideas

Jared Lee Loughner is accused of killing six people and wounding 14 in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday. Here’s a look at five ideas believed to come from Loughner, in his words and those of the people who know him.

5. The government controls us through currency.

In writings alleged to be his, Loughner proposes creating an alternative currency for people to use, and he encourages others to join him in using or creating a new currency.

“The current government officials are in power for their currency,” notes the writer of the Youtube video, “but I’m informing you for your new currency!”

In another spot, the author disavows any currency not backed by gold or silver. Though a “new currency” is referenced in several of the Youtube videos, gold and silver are mentioned only once.
