Between thumb and forefinger
prayer beads pass,
like days passing,
like thunderclouds passing
across a monsoon sky –
here and gone
remembered and forgotten
like shadows on rain,
like words on love,
like prayer beads passing
between thumb and forefinger.
– William Ward
