Once upon a time: 5 fairy tale films coming soon
This Friday, 'Mirror Mirror' presents a comedic spin on the Snow White story with Lily Collins as the titular princess, 'Social Network' actor Armie Hammer as Prince Charming, and Julia Roberts playing against type as the wicked queen. With the TV shows 'Once Upon A Time' and 'Grimm,' fairy tales have been all over the pop culture map lately – and the craze isn't over. Here are 5 other fairy tale movies coming soon, including a new take on 'Jack and the Beanstalk,' a very new version of 'Peter Pan,' and a second retake on 'Snow White.'
1. 'Snow White and the Huntsman'
This adaptation of the story will be released on June 1 and stars Kristen Stewart as the princess, Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman sent to find her, and Charlize Theron as a very creepy queen, with actors such as Bob Hoskins and Ian McShane playing the seven dwarves. Unlike 'Mirror Mirror,' which looks to be a light comedy, this version has a lot of swords and armor, and early promotional pictures have shown Stewart suited up and looking ready for battle. "They are for totally different audiences," 'Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders told Entertainment Weekly. "I never thought for a minute that we’d be arriving at the same ball in the same ball gown."
