First Look Pulling out of ICC would be unconstitutional, South African court rules

High court judge Phineas Mojapelo told the government that its notice of withdrawal from the ICC, issued in October, is 'unconstitutional and invalid' because it did not first receive parliamentary consent.

South Africa was poised to leave the International Criminal Court in October, making it the first state to withdraw from the human rights tribunal. But legal proceedings within South Africa are impeding that effort.
