Alpha Jets fly above the Arcachon Basin in western France. Founded in 1995, the Operational Transitional School at Cazaux has welcomed young fighter pilots from the French Air Force for over 18 years. Since 2005, it has also opened its doors to international pilots from Belgium and Germany. Having recently received their wings, these pilots take final advanced courses in air combat before being posted to their flight squadrons.

The British Royal Air Force Red Arrows aerobatic team perform during a training flight on March 22 at an airbase on Crete. An RAF pilot escaped with just a dislocated shoulder after a midair crash on March 23 with another member of his aerobatic team in Greece, officials said. The pilot from the Red Arrows team ejected before his Hawk jet crashed in a field at Kastelli air base on the island of Crete.
