Eggs. Shrek glasses. Sure, but what was the top recall of 2010?

This Princess Fiona drinking glass, distributed by McDonald's in 2007, shed trace amounts of cadmium to the drinkers, so McDonald's voluntarily recalled millions of the Shrek-themed glasses.

The McDonald’s recall of 12 million Shrek-themed cadmium-tainted glasses put a damper on the promotion of “Shrek Forever After.” The cadmium in the paint on the glasses could cause “adverse health effects,” according to the CPSC, which announced the recall in June.

However, Consumer Reports ranked this recall as less severe than those previously mentioned because of the low dosage of cadmium and the lack of health complaints. “Of all of the recalls, this is the least serious,” says Mays. “McDonald’s did the right thing. They didn’t want to expose children to any risk.”

For a few days after the recall, information on how to receive refunds from McDonald’s was a bit muddy.
