A Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks is a mesmerizing historical fictional account of a true event. Brooks does an incredible job of making her characters and their stories reveal and unfold actual historical events and life that makes the reader want to learn and research more. She knows her history and her facts and weaves a tale that shows rather than tells how life could have been.
