Plum Wine
Plum Wine by Angela Davis-Gardner is a must read. The setting is Japan and the narrator is an American woman teaching English at a small college in Tokyo after the bombing of Hiroshima. The author does a splendid characterization of the main characters and the culture of Japan in response to this horrendous event. It's so well written that I could hardlly put it down.
