Reader recommendation: The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

of

I recommend Frederick Douglass’s autobiography The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass (narrated by Richard Allen on audiobook). He met the major American figures of the mid-19th century: Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown, and Abraham Lincoln. Douglass was a great orator, and listening to Allen perform his speeches is thrilling.
