Reader recommendation: Christ Stopped at Eboli

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

I'm reading Christ Stopped at Eboli by Carlo Levi. It's a memorable account of the year the author spent in an extremely poor, backward village in southern Italy in 1935. His descriptions of the people and their ways are told in beautiful prose.
