Reader recommendation: The Path to Power

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

The Path to Power is the fascinating, straightforward first volume of what is to beĀ a five-volume history of "The Years of Lyndon Johnson" by Robert E Caro. I began with the latest, fourth volume, titled "The Passage of Power" and thought I recognized the excellent writing. Checking my library, I found that I hadĀ purchased "The Path to Power" back in 1982. Since I don't recall reading it around that time, I'm now enjoying it, for perhaps the second time. I look forward to reading volumes 2, 3, and 5.
