12 quotes from Babe Didrikson Zaharias

Long before the women’s rights movement and Title IX, Babe Didrikson Zaharias was showing the world just how athletic women could be. An all-around athlete who never seemed to meet a sport she couldn’t excel at, Zaharias went from Olympic track and field champion in 1932 to star and charter member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association tour in the 1940s and 1950s. At the ’32 Los Angeles Olympics she won gold medals in the javelin and 80-meter hurdles and a silver in high jump. The Associated Press named the talented Texan the ninth greatest athlete of the 20th century. Here are 12 quotes (mostly golf-related), from Zaharias on her birthday, June 26.
