"Lockdown," by Walter Dean Myers (for young adults, Amistad, 256 pp.) is a 2011 King Author Honor book and was also a 2010 National Book Award finalist. Reese is a teenager sorting through his feelings and aspirations while incarcerated in a juvenile correction facility. Myers’ book explores how a young adult can come back from a mistake even when his whole world seems bent on obstructing his redemption.
