Night in the desert

blooms silent. moon shadows

cacti. Hush as coyote waits

for hare. The Milky Way, a spill

of gauze across a lucid sky.

Nothing human lives here.

They sweep by in steel-encased

air-conditioned ease. Radios blare.

Stars fall in their wake.
