Sufficiency

What was it that Henry David Thoreau

Possessed that made him rich

In spirit, yet not too proud

To dig a ditch?

What was it that made him feel

Prosperous as a king,

Who was known to salvage a used

Piece of string....

To treasure such things as truth,

Plain food and raiment, a friend,

A book, a walk in the woods

And peace in the end?
