Most oppose guns on screen

A MAJORITY of Americans favor laws restricting violence in movies because they believe it causes violence in real life, according to a recent ABC/Day One poll.

The survey found that 77 percent say most new movies have too much violence, 68 percent believe movie violence leads to real violence and 54 percent say there should be legal restrictions on violent scenes.

The poll of 1,028 adults, with a slight margin of error, found that older people and women were more concerned about the issue than men. A majority of men and younger people oppose legal curbs on violence while older people and women are in favor.
