City's events in honor of `King Week'

Jan. 14-19. Martin Luther King Week in Atlanta. Among the highlights are: Jan. 14. Culture Night. Six Atlanta artists perform at Freedom Hall Auditorium at 8:30 p.m.

Jan. 15. ``Selma to Atlanta Relay'' ceremony for runners, at Dr. King's crypt, 11:30 a.m.

Jan. 17. All Peoples Freedom Gala at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis, 9:30 p.m. A party for people who have been involved in civil rights over the years.

The College and University Student Candlelight March and Vigil at 10 p.m. Students from all over the country will march from Atlanta Civic Center to Dr. King's tomb.

Jan. 18. Gospel salute held at the Atlanta Civic Center at 8 p.m.

Jan. 19. National holiday. The day starts off with a wreath-laying ceremony at Dr. King's tomb at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at the Ebenezer Baptist Church (it might be hard to get in; dignitaries get preferred seating).

At 12:30 p.m. the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and replicas in state capitals across the United States will be rung simultaneously, carrying out the theme of this year's Martin Luther King Day, ``Living the Dream: Let Freedom Ring!'' This ceremony will be broadcast nationwide on TV and radio.

Parade down Peachtree Street begins at 1:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m.
