House to hold safety hearing on Union Carbide plant in US

A congressional hearing will be held next week on the safety of a Union Carbide plant in West Virginia that produces the same poison gas that has caused up to 2,000 deaths in India, Rep. Bob Wise said Thursday.

The West Virginia Democrat said the hearing by the House subcommittee on health and environment would be held in Charleston, W.Va., not far from the Union Carbide plant in the town of Institute.
