Lindbergh of balloonist's lands in northern Italy

American balloonist Joe W. Kittinger crash-landed in an open field near Savona in northern Italy Tuesday, injuring a foot. The 10-story helium-filled craft, the Rosie O'Grady, lifted off last Friday from Caribou, Maine, some 84 hours before and 3,550 miles away. It was the first solo balloon crossing of the Atlantic and it set a distance record for a solo balloon flight.
