Karpov, challenger in draw as chess tournament begins

The World Championship Chess match got under way here Monday with defending title-holder Anatoly Karpov and challenger Gary Kasparov playing a 36-move draw in the opening game. Game No. 2 is scheduled Wednesday, and play will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until one player has achieved six victories.
