Record number of nations say they'll be at Olympics

A total of 142 countries have agreed to attend the Los Angeles Olympic Games, a record attendance despite the Soviet-led boycott, Olympic officials said Monday.

The previous record was 122 nations which took part in the 1972 Olympics in Munich.

The Olympic organizers released the final list of nations after the June 2 deadline for countries to indicate that they will attend. However, the list included Bolivia, which announced yesterday that it would not send a team because of economic difficulties.
