To read poetry

is not to scan for quick meaning. Speed-reading will get nowhere except to the end. To read poetry, find a quiet place. Turn off all the busy impulses of your busy being. Listen! In this quiet there is a thread - a line of quick-silver dipping into a silence, and in the silence is something rare. If you find it, it will possess you.
