The myrtle in my neighbor's yard Sends its astonishing purple emissaries Silently creeping under the fence, Looking at me like Smiling Celtic eyes, To inform me of the spring. When summer comes My roses ramble Over the fence, Blushing in their boldness Yet eager to repay The unforgotten gift Of neighborliness.
