Thai premier reconsiders his decision to resign

Thai Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda has reconsidered his shock resignation, reliable political sources said. The sources said Mr. Prem agreed to make himself available to head another coalition government after former Prime Minister Kukrit Pramoj convinced him that no civilian coalition government could survive without him. The two parties have in the past week fought for the right to form a new government under Mr. Prem, regarded as the ideal compromise between Thailand's powerful Army and the country's elected politicians.
