Poland orders UPI writer expelled over film pickup

Polish authorities Wednesday ordered the expulsion of United Press International Warsaw correspondent Ruth Gruber, the official PAP news agency said, after releasing her from nearly 24 hours of detention.

The announcement came about two hours after the American reporter was freed from her cell at a Warsaw police station, where she was questioned about a package of film. Miss Gruber's office assistant, Anna Olszewska, also spent the night in detention after going to the station Tuesday morning in response to a telephone call instructing her to pick up a package there.
