Nobel winners champion prisoners of conscience

Seven Nobel Peace Prize winners, including Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov, backed a worldwide signature drive launched by Amnesty International for the release of all prisoners of conscience.

The human rights organization said petitions will circulate during most of 1983 before presentation to all heads of state and the president of the UN General Assembly.
