Economic expert named for State Department post

President Reagan said Wednesday he would nominate Richard McCormack, a State Department economics expert, to be assistant secretary of state for economic and business affairs.

If confirmed by the Senate, Mr. McCormack will succeed Robert D. Hormats. Mr. Hormats announced some time ago he was leaving for private life and his departure is not connected with other department personnel changes.
