Maine's Gov. Joseph Brennan won the Democratic nomination to run for a second term. His Republican opponent is Charles Cragin.

In New Jersey, Rep. Millicent Fenwick won the Republican Senate race by a few percentage points. She will vie with Democrat Frank Lautenberg.
