Peking reports new effort to rid party of corruption

China's Communist Party newspaper People's Daily called for new efforts to rid the party of corrupt officials and indicated that a purge of remaining extreme leftists was being planned. The paper said it was especially important to ensure that middle-ranking and senior party officials were incorruptible.
