Warning to air travelers: A strike by US air controllers is still up in the air. Ballots have been mailed to controllers by the Professional Air Traffic Controllers union with the recommendation by the executive board that they "overwhelmingly reject" the 30.3 percent wage hike that was negotiated just hours before a June 22 strike date. A majority of controllers appear set to reject the agreement. If they do, and no new settlement is reached by mid-August, they will be asked to authorize a strike by an 80 percent affirmative vote.
Meanwhile, government officials alrealy have warned there is no more money to put into a new settlement.m
