An epoxy finish lasts longer

Q How can I stop the Paint from peeling off our metal shower stall? J. Spaeth St. Louis, Mo.

A Metal shower stalls, are extremely difficult to paint with a long-lasting material without going to a two-component, water-based epoxy.Epoxies have the water resistance required in damp areas such as showers.

Follow the labeled directions in preparing the metal and then apply the finish coats.

Another possibility is to use a gloss chlorinated, rubber- based paint that is specifically made for damp surroundings. One such product is made right there in St. Louis by the Steelcote Company. The Phone number is (314) 771-8053.

Ask for the particulars as to surface preparation and the necessary priming mate rial.
