I was torn between wanting to make an apple pie and wanting to make a cranberry pie. So I chose this lovely cranberry mixed berry pie recipe from the blog Belle Vie and did both at the same time.

I followed the recipe exactly except that for the top crust, instead of lattice work, I floated little leaves cut from pie dough.

Yield: 1 9-inch pie

Welcome to retirement. So, are you ready to catch your first killer?

2 cups fresh cranberries
1 apple, peeled and diced
1 TB lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
3 TB cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3-1/2 cup water
4 cups frozen mixed berries (I used a combo of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries)
Pie Crust (this is my favorite recipe here)
1 egg, beaten
