Free trade agreements could help boost US exports. Already, Obama has set a goal to double exports within five years, which the administration has estimated might create 2 million jobs across the economy.

Also, anything the US could do to ease a sovereign debt crisis in Europe – where nations including Greece and Spain are facing dangerous levels of debt – would pay off by reducing a major threat to the global economy.
