First Look Daily life is slow to return to Syrian 'rebel' capital

Four years after the start of the civil war, the Bab Dreib district of Hobs, Syria, stands abandoned and destroyed. Only 30 percent of its former inhabitants have returned as roads and buildings are in ruins, making access to food and other resources difficult.

Sumaya Bairuty walked through abandoned streets pocked with shell craters amid rows of destroyed buildings, at times climbing over giant sand barriers before reaching her parent's apartment in the once rebel-held district of Bab Dreib in this central Syrian city.
