2. 'Mortality,' by Christopher Hitchens


In "Mortality" journalist and critic Christopher Hitchens – author of "Hitch-22" and "The Trial of Henry Kissinger" – offers the story of his own illness and impending death. He recalls suddenly being struck ill in his hotel room and soon after discovering he had esophageal cancer. Hitchens battled his sickness for more than a year until his death in 2011, writing continuously on how being sick changes the universe around us and discussing the enigma of death.
