Tea Party Top 10 biggest winners and losers

7. Mike Lee, Utah

Conservative Mike Lee beat Democrat San Granato to win the Utah seat held by Republican Sen. Bob Bennett for 18 years.

With tea party support, Lee beat Bennett in the Republican primary. This is another case of the tea party conservatives challenging the Republican establishment candidate.

Lee is the youngest elected member of the US Senate. Last month, Time magazine named him one of the 40 most influential Americans under the age of 40. Utah's Deseret News reports that Lee wants to form a "tea party caucus" with other newly elected members of Congress, such as Marco Rubio of Florida and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Lee pledged to shrink big government, roll back President Barack Obama's health care program, and repeal the Constitutional amendment granting US citizenship to immigrants' children born on US soil. Lee is a constitutional law attorney.

This was his first campaign and will be his first-time in elected office.
