Holiday shopping online: How to avoid the '12 cyber scams of Christmas'

With more Americans turning to the Internet for more of their holiday shopping needs, good cybersecurity is vital to avoid a raft of scams – from promises of "free iPads" to "holidays screensavers" that install malware on your computer. Here are the "12 cyber scams of Christmas." 

5. Holiday screensavers

Adding a little holiday spirit to your personal computer may sound like a fun idea, but caution is the watchword here. A recent search for a Santa screensaver that promises to let you “fly with Santa in 3D” is malicious, according to McAfee, the big computer antivirus company says in an alert. "Holiday-themed ringtones and e-cards have been known to be malicious too."
