After night's deluge

A poem

Like a frantic drum solo
rain pounds the roof all night
but before dawn
the sky's a calm streak
of stars. Cloud tatters
flutter past the moon like sheets
the storm's ghost abandoned.
Stretching toward infinity
the Milky Way
repeats
its glittery patch of dreams.
