5. Huffington Post builds a paywall

The Huffington Post – that champion of all-free, all-the-time journalism – today tucked its content behind a paywall. But don't worry: The paywall will only affect employees of the New York Times, which recently implemented its own pay-for-play system. Times reporters and editors will be allowed to read the first six letters of each article, Arianna Huffington wrote in an open letter today, but after that, they'll have to fork over some cash.

"You may choose to subscribe to see the rest of each word individually, or choose a package to access all words of more than six letters," Huffington wrote.
