8. Oprah Winfrey, founder of Harpo, Inc.

The talk-show host founded Harpo ("Oprah" spelled backwards) in 1986 after talking with Jeff Jacobs, an entertainment lawyer in Chicago who said it would be a good decision to be the person in charge of her show as well as the host. Jacobs then came on board as the president and chief operating officer. Winfrey says the most important thing in life is aiming high. "Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe," Winfrey said. "When I was a little girl in Mississippi, growing up on the farm ... watching my grandmother boil clothes in a big, iron pot through the screen door, because we didn't have a washing machine and made everything we had, I watched her and realized somehow inside myself ... that my life could be bigger, greater than what I saw."
