In Florida, Christmas books for the homeless

(From the Santa Rosa Press Gazette)

The Panhandle Writers Group in Santa Rosa County will partner with two groups from Woodbine United Methodist Church in Pace to provide books for the homeless for Christmas.

Each year the Woodbine Outreach Riding Disciples and the Generations Life Groups have a Christmas party for 200 homeless men and women in Pensacola.

At this party each person is provided a delicious home-cooked Christmas dinner and receives a Christmas box that has essentials like toiletries, socks, gloves and flashlights.

The books collected by Panhandle Writers Group will be placed in the boxes.

The Panhandle Writers Group invites the public to get involved by providing good, used or new soft-back books for this project. Books can be Christian, mystery, romance western, historical, science fiction etc. (Please no sexually explicit or extremely violent books).

Drop boxes will be available at two locations through Dec. 10th. Woodbine United Methodist Church Office 5200 Woodbine Rd. Monday-Thursday from 9 am – 4:00 pm and Storage Master 4636 Woodbine Rd. Monday-Friday from 9 m – 6:00 pm. Both locations are in Pace, Florida.

Panhandle Writers Group member Sharon Glass says reading a book can bring a lot pleasure to those who have little or nothing to brighten their day.
