Jingnan Peng produces feature videos, explainers, and animation for the Monitor. As part of the Monitor's "new storytelling pod," he spearheads innovative visual styles from slow-motion to stop-motion. He previously worked in New York City, covering breaking news for Agence France-Presse (AFP), and editing viral web videos for Quartz.
Jing grew up in Beijing, where, like many Chinese kids of his generation, he spent most of his childhood studying math Olympics. He discovered a passion for books and films in high school, and attended Yale University to pursue these interests. He went on to complete a Master's degree at Columbia Journalism School.
Jing loves cats, H-Mart, and languages. Fluent in Mandarin, English and French, he is currently working on his German and Japanese these days.
